Our Program
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
We provide a Learning Through Play program that focuses on all areas of child development; social, emotional, intellectual, physical, and creative. We encourage children to grow in self-respect, self-control, responsibility, and independence through caring and nurturing interactions, positive guidance and role modelling.
Kinder House Day Care has been providing child care in the Edmonton community for more than 40 years, with the Owner/Program Director celebrating 33 years of service at the center.
Our program is unique and continuously evolving with "best practice" in the child care industry. It is our belief that it takes a whole community to raise a child. We work cohesively with Parents, Early Intervention Programs, and other community and social service agencies to support children and their families. We have an Open Door Policy meaning Parents and families are welcome to stop by anytime, maybe have some lunch, read a story, bake some muffins or cookies or even just to say hello!
Community Engagement
GRIT ASaP
To strengthen our team of educators’ knowledge on emotional regulation and literacy we are partnering with GRIT in their ASAP program. Through our bi-weekly discussions and meetings
with our GRIT coach, educators have learned how to develop appropriate strategies to assist children with their emotions and feelings. Educators are also able to access a wealth of
resources through the gritasap.ca website and often share those recourses with the parents and families.
This program has helped our educators to recognize, appreciate and nurture each child’s unique identity as a learner and the diverse ways children engage with others, ideas, materials and the world.
GRIT ASaP”s Mission
“To provide access to the right supports, at the right time, and to build upon the skills, knowledge and confidence of educators to ensure the meaningful participation and inclusion of all children”
Visits to the Senior Center
Kinder House has also been partnering with our neighborhood Senior Center. As it is within walking distance, we visit as often as we can. Whether it is just so say hello and have a snack (like at grandma and grandpa’s house) or to sing songs, play games or create special art
projects.
Intergenerational programming in early childhood settings brings young children and older adults together to enrich the lives of both generations.
Our goal for intergenerational programming is typically to:
ï‚Ÿ Provide children with accurate information and knowledge about the elderly that will enable them to form positive, realistic concepts of and attitudes toward the elderly.
ï‚Ÿ Expose children to an unbiased look at the diversity of older people, teaching them to value the many and varied characteristics, attributes and qualities of the elderly.
ï‚Ÿ Enable children to feel positively about their own aging and about the elderly and offer the elders planned interaction with young children.

Positive benefits for seniors include:
ï‚Ÿ Enabling the development of new relationships that may help compensate for the recent loss of an enduring tie eg: spouse, sibling or friend.
ï‚Ÿ Strengthening self-esteem and mental health.
ï‚Ÿ Providing increased personal fulfillment by involvement in meaningful roles.
ï‚Ÿ Assists seniors with staying active.
Intergenerational programs not only meet the critical needs in our society, but also help build a future that values all generations.
